One place to begin.
NameSearcher brings three independent sources together. It helps you ask better questions before committing to a name.
Domain registration records
We check .com, .com.au, .au, .net, .org, .co, .dev, .io, .ai, .info, .biz, .xyz using registry RDAP data. “No registration found” means the registry returned a not-found response. It does not guarantee eligibility, price, or availability to purchase.
Australian business records
We look for active current ABR names containing the words you searched, with per-word fallback searches where necessary. This is not a comprehensive similarity search and does not check ASIC company-name availability.
Trade marks and classes
Trade marks are organised into 45 classes of goods and services. Choose classes relevant to what you will sell or provide. Class 35, selected initially, includes advertising and business services; software often involves classes 9 and 42.
We search partial wording among pending and registered trade marks in the selected classes. We show the first page of up to 20 records, separately from the provider’s total count. Class descriptions in the picker are short guides, not full definitions.
These results are potential matches rather than a clearance decision. Similar wording, related goods and services, and other rights can matter. Verify findings with the source and seek professional advice where needed.
When a check cannot finish
Provider failures and deadlines are shown as unknown, incomplete, or unavailable. They never mean your name is clear. Recent successful results may be reused for up to five minutes with the original lookup time shown.
